Frustration to Automation: Templated.io is Streamlining Design for Businesses

Templated.io automates repetitive design tasks, with SEO driving growth and customer feedback shaping its future

When Peter set out to build Templated.io, the inspiration came from a problem he had encountered repeatedly: businesses spend too much time manually creating similar visual assets.

"Some need to automate an invoice, a presentation, social media posts, ad creatives," Peter explains, "and it takes time and effort from the team to do that manually even when most of those assets look similar." The platform, which allows users to automate these assets through API or no-code integrations, was born out of this frustration.

Let's Get Templated

Templated offers a streamlined approach: first, users design a base template in a drag-and-drop editor, and from there, they can render multiple assets based on that template. The result is a product that takes the manual effort out of repetitive tasks, saving teams countless hours.

But while the technical foundation came easily to Peter, he quickly found that building the product was only half the battle.

“I never knew how hard it was going to be to let people know it existed and attract the first users,” Peter admits. “It took me months to start seeing some very small usage from users and get validation that the product really solves real people’s problems.”

Like so many founders, he realised that the challenge wasn’t just building a solution, but getting it in front of the right audience.

SEO Is Still Alive and Kicking

To overcome this, Peter turned to SEO—a process that requires patience and persistence but ultimately helped him gain traction.

"You have to go after backlinks, write good quality content, help others, email a bunch of people, and eventually Google will start liking your site and showing your content in search results." It’s a strategy that, while time-consuming, is paying off. His site now receives daily traffic, helping him attract a growing user base.

In terms of monetisation, Peter opted for a credit-based system, which gives users flexibility to pick a plan based on their needs.

Templated.io starts with a freemium plan offering 50 free API credits, with the paid plan starting at $29 per month for 1,000 credits. It’s a model that allows businesses to scale up as they need, while lowering the barrier for smaller users to try out the platform. “Customer feedback was key in shaping this,” Peter shares, noting that he’s always learning from users to improve the platform.

Breaking Into the Space

For founders looking to break into the competitive design automation space, Peter’s advice is simple: “Try to build the best tool you can and make it easy for people to find you. Help and hear your initial users, learn what they need, and help them integrate with your solution. Don’t be lazy.”

As for the future of Templated.io, Peter remains focused on growth.

“The plan right now is to continue focusing on marketing and adding new features as necessary,” he says. With regular feedback from users, the platform is constantly evolving. For Peter, the long-term goal is simple—make life easier for businesses by automating what can be automated.
